Sunday Adelaja “I am against dragging out the lawsuit…”

The 7th of October 2011 marked Pastor Sunday Adelaja’s third appearance in court.
Prior to that, the trial, allegedly involving him and the collapsed company called "King's Capital” had already been postponed twice.

Additionally, the location of the court hearing this time around was different from where it was held last time. But despite this, many still thronged the court premises and stood solidly beside Pastor Sunday Adelaja.

Also the atmosphere outside the courthouse was positive, calm and friendly. Many socialized with each other while others simply testified about God’s goodness and mercy.

And amazingly, the members of the "Embassy of God" church, brought peace and tranquility to a situation that would otherwise have been very tense and by so doing exhibited the characteristics of God’s kingdom.

In addition, the members of the rehabilitation centers made a 50-meter poster complete with their testimonies and gratitude for having been delivered from their drug and alcohol addictions. This was in staunch opposition to the shameful TV program called "Groshі" (“Money”) that was aired by "1 +1" TV which slandered the rehabilitation centers of the "Embassy of God Church".
Several people including the head of the Rehabilitation center, Mila Gannoha and Dmitry Kostyrko, manager of its Vinnitsa’s branch, held a press-briefing at the venue during which they spoke out against such untruth and slander.
Their statements were overheard by the representatives of the local TV channels such as: Ukraine, CITY, First National, Channel 5 and TBI who were themselves invited to see these rehabilitation centers and a reporter from CITY TV was the first to accept the invitation.

As the day progressed, many had hopes that the trial would finally commence. Unfortunately however, this was not to be. The hearing was postponed yet again and for the third time in a row. This was owing to the fact that the defendants, Aleksander Safonov and Aleksandr Bandurchenko were unsuccessful in their attempts to get hold of their lawyer who went completely “AWOL” and did not appear in court.
As a consequence, the founders of King's Capital requested that their attorney be disqualified from representing them. They also requested that they be provided by the state lawyer both of which were granted by the judge.

The next hearing was then re-scheduled to take place on the 20th of October, 2011. The location of the hearing will be at the same address i.e. Koshitsa str. 5 and will commence at 11:30 prompt.

As Pastor Sunday exited the court premises, he was surrounded by many journalists who wanted to know what his thoughts were on the latest postponement and he responded saying:

"Perhaps this is a delaying tactic employed by those who commit illegal actions.”

Pastor Sunday further commented saying “They are delaying the case because they cannot legally prove my involvement in the formation and in running of the company. Personally, I am totally against the prolongation of the case. I also did not and have not made a request for a Ukrainian interpreter. I have stated that I am happy for the trial to be conducted in either Ukrainian or in Russian. They therefore do not have any justification for prolonging the case any longer and I oppose any further delay.

Every time I come to court. It is done with pleasure and with a purpose. The purpose being to prove that there are people who do not violate the law in Ukraine but instead continue to do only that which is good and which is for the benefit of this country. It is therefore my hope that sooner or later, I will be given the opportunity to prove and defend this point and ultimately my innocence.

Surprisingly after Pastor Sunday’s speech, journalists gathered around him and kept asking questions unlike the previous times. It was as if they consciously or unconsciously yearned for something more. Could it be that they hunger to hear the word of God without even realizing it? Just a thought.
